Introduction
Recent changes in legislation have brought another new dimension to the hobby. There are now many Amateur Radio stations connected to the Internet and a large number of these are providing bidirectional Internet <> RF "gateways". This page deals mainly with those stations located in Scotland and includes both Internet Links provided by Radio Amateurs and also existing VHF/UHF Voice Repeaters that have been "upgraded" to incorporate an Internet Linking facility.

DTMF Operation
If you are accessing an EchoLink controlled Internet Link from RF, you will require to transmit DTMF tones to control your QSO with other stations. This can be done with a handheld transceiver's keypad, a DTMF microphone or a small handheld dialler. You will notice that Internet Links (-L) and Repeaters (-R) have a numerical Node ID as do Amateur Stations that are connected to the Internet.

Some simple RF > Internet functions are listed below:

Command	Function	DTMF Key
Info Request	By pressing "*" will ask the Node to play an ID message.	*
Connect	Enter the Node ID number of the station you want to connect to.	NNNNN
Random Node	By pressing "00" the system will connect you to any available Node.	00
Random Link	By pressing "01" the system will connect you to any available Link or Repeater.	01
Disconnect	Press "#" to disconnect.	#

To use the system from your PC you will need to download an application from one of the websites below.

N.B. If you intend to run an Internet gateway, a hardware interface and official Notice Of Variation (N.O.V.) are also required.
